Born in Australia, raised in Canada but who really gives a f*ck?
Tor Snyder is a comedic force here to win the hearts of every Australian she meets. But don’t let the adorable Canadian accent fool you, she’s full of “a whole lot of sass and a whole lot of crass” and not sorry aboot it.
Her career began on a breezy winters day in May 2012, bombing to a crowd of maybe 20 in a back alley bar in Perths CBD, with a poorly written "hot take" on the butt sniffing transport minister at the time. It was dangerously bad. But she was bloody hooked, baby.
Fast forward 11 years to an experienced and refined Tor Snyder. She’s since produced and written 4 solo Fringe World Shows. Performed 2 of those shows at Adelaide Fringe and one at Darwin Fringe. Been a weekly award winner and nominated for The West Australian Newspaper Award in 2021 at Fringe World. Opened and toured with some of the best comedians around the country, including the MICF Roadshow and the Perth Comedy Festival Showcase Tour in 2022. She was also hand picked to host the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s prestigious ‘Comedy Zone’ and is now included in a stellar list of alumni.
During the exhausting and scarce comedy covid years, Tor started a new venture into the wonderful world of buying and selling second hand retro furniture under the name One Nightstand Furniture. It went off and quickly became the perfect side hustle. So much so, in early 2023 she started studying to be an upholsterer. Check out her work here.
Currently, Snyder is touring around the country, performing at Australia's biggest and best venues with no plans to slow down. She’ll be debuting her first solo MICF show in 2025, “Funy Girl”.
Funy (adj.): When something is so funny, it transcends regular funny. Funy. It's like slang, from England.
Keep an eye on this Canadian babe! Guaranteed you’ll be hooked and looking for more Tor.
